Gold Star Mom Ceremony

A Gold Star Mom is a mom who has lost a son to war. It is a club no one wants to join, but once you are a member, you are part of a family, and they help each other through.
Gold Star Moms
Colleen, the crazy one as they call her had a vision--one that would replace the old rusted flagpole with a shiny new one, a vision to honor the Gold Star Moms, past, present and future.

Colleen, our sister is an amazing person, she had the ability to make new friends, make everyone feel important and needed and the ability to bring together all kinds of people. She made friends with the sexton of the cemetary and the generals who attended the dedication.

In her pink army boots, this little lady makes things happen and brings joy and comfort to the other Gold Star Moms.

Every branch of the service was represented in the color guard who did the flag ceremony.

The bugle played, a cannon shot was fired, the wind blew and the flag went up!!
It was an awe inspiring moment.

We are so proud of our nephew Matthew, who died in action, of his mother, Colleen who honors his name and of our son-in-law Dusty who is currently serving in Iraq. We pray for his safe return, and for the safe return of others and for all of the families who make up our military.

Honoring the fallen soldiers
Colleen being interviewed by KSL news, she had a short clip on the news that night.
Bikes of the Patriot Guard Riders who were there to protect and honor this dedication.
