Mount Nebo
Moses sees the promised land and is taken by the Lord. (see Deuteronomy 34:1-12)
Here we are at Mount Nebo, now if you have forgotten your Bible history, Mount Nebo is the mountain Moses and the children of Israel climbed and looked out into the promised land. This was also when Moses knew he would not be able to enter the promised land.

The trail heading up to the top of the Mount.

Some school girls on an outing to Mount Nebo.
Map of the area
It does look green on the horizon, and after the desert and desolation we drove throught, I can see how it did look like the promised land.
Bob and Kathy, a couple we met from Minnesota.
It must have been a very emotional moment for Moses, looking out from the top of Mount Nebo and seeing the promised land, while knowing that he would not enter. After all of his exploits during the Exodus, and after struggling 40 years in the wilderness leading the constantly complaining and disobedient Israelites.
This is looking north, notice the Dead Sea. Just a little north beyond the Dead Sea is Jericho.
