Petra - the trail down to the Treasury

Here we are, ready for the trek down to Petra--we're excited!! As we head out we start to see some ruins, these are so cool. We were very impressed with these, little did we know it would get so much better. The Siq is the canyon, it is about a mile long and is narrow and tall, kind of like the narrows in Zion's. There are horse carriages for those who would rather not walk, but it looks like a pretty rough ride on the cobblestone trail. Below is a close-up of the cobblestone trail. In the above pic, if you look next to the man's legs you can see the feet and belly of a camel, then behind him another camel. It is too bad it is so weathered. It must have been beautiful when everything was intact and new. Our first glimpse of the treasury--it is so exciting, I can't wait to see the whole thing!! I can hear the music now!!
