Capernaum is located on the north shore of the Sea of Galilee and was the center of Jesus' Galilean ministry.
The Savior lived here and Capernaum is called "his city".
It was an important fishing and commercial center.
Jesus worked many miracles at the site, he healed many people, including the centurion's servant.

The Jaffa's
Me, standing outside the synagogue where Jesus delivered his Bread of Life sermon (John 6:24-59)
In this city Jesus healed the paralytic whose bed was lowered through the ceiling
And it was in Capernaum that Jesus raised the daughter of Jarius from the dead (Mark 5:22-24, 35-43)
The synagogue was rebuilt at a later time, so most of these ruins are not original to Jesus' time
It was here that Jesus healed the man with a withered hand (Matt 12:9-13)
Here Jesus also cast out many evil spirits.
This place had a very calm peaceful feel, we really enjoyed walking around the city.
Roman soldiers constructed bath houses and storage facilities here.
These are foundations of buildings.
The walls are all standing around the city.
It must have been very beautiful when the Savior lived here.
The engraving in this stone depicts the Arc of the Covenant.
I can't imagine how much work it was to carve these designs in stone.
This city was the home of Peter, Andrew and Matthew, 3 of the Lord's apostles.
Underneath this building is Peter's mother-in -law's house.
These are pictures of the mother-in-law's house.
The people generally rejected the Savior's ministry. Jesus therefore cursed the city and in time it fell into ruin.
These aloe plants are huge!!
On the shore of the Sea of Galilee, it was amazing to stand here and think of Jesus being here, teaching near here and living here, he may have stood on this very spot.
It was on these shores that the Savior directed Peter to catch a fish, open it's mouth and find a coin with which to pay a tax.
How greatful we are to have been able to come here and think about all that happened here.
